MORCon 2011 Mastering Online Ranking Conference The
MORCon 2011 or Mastering Online Ranking Conference was held on October 29, 2011 at the School of Urban Planning and Development, University of the Philippines, Diliman. It was organized by SEO Organization Philippines.
I believe the goals of the event were:
1. to gather Filipinos who are interested in search engine optimization, Internet marketing, and blogging.
2. for members of the organization to get to know each other and meet face-to-face
3. to vote for the new set of officers
The following are my thoughts of how the MORCon 2011 went through. I'll start with the cons.
CONS:1. It was obvious that some of the speakers were new to the experience of delivering a presentation to a large audience. Jittery movements and shaking voices abound. However, the content they provided were powerful.
2. The hall or conference area was not ideal for such a big gathering. There were pillars blocking the view of many of the attendees.
3.
And this is the worst: some members of the organizing team who were located at the back (near the food table) were just too loud and noisy. Many times I've noticed participants taking a glance at these people because they couldn't believe the rudeness. Special note with the girl manning the ballot box. She was the loudest of them all. I just hope they learn how to behave well while there are speakers in front.
PROS:1. Superb tips particularly from Ed Pudol, Benj Arriola, Jason Acidre, and Myles Vives. I would add Juanito Jacela but he was on a different level. I bet majority of the attendees had no idea what he was talking about. (PPC is not the domain of the masses, I guess).
2. The food was heavenly! From the fish to the pancit to the buko juice. The servers were also fast with their clean up.
3. Wonderful location. UP on sembreak is too peaceful, conducive for talks like MORCon (and I think the Urban Planning building does not get much visitors even on a regular day).
All in all the MORCon 2011 was a success. There were hiccups, but nothing a glass of water or a scare can't cure. I'm looking forward to MORCON 2012.
